We just came back from vacation and touring the Hearst Ranch. Something rather interesting about Patricial Lake. Our tour guide informed us that she had looked up the marrage license of Pat and Arthur and it stated the birth date of Pat as being 1919.That would have made her age at 18 I believe, probably for legal reasons. I understand there is no birth cirtificate for Pat also. In "The Chief" it states that Pat was born in 1923 in Europe making her 14 years old at marrage?

I questioned the 14 age too, knew there had to be a mistake on her date of birth. A simple DNA test would solve the mystery, but don't think the Hearst heirs would cooperate.

There seem to be differing accounts of the dates involved. IMDB lists Patricia's birth year as 1923 and her marriage year as 1942. I have also seen her birth year listed elsewhere as 1921 and marriage year as 1947. I have seen only one photo of the wedding at San Simeon, and the clothing and hairstyles of the couple appear to be from the 1940s.

I forgot to add that IMDB also lists Patricia's daughter Mary's birth year as 1944, so the 1942 marriage year may be correct.
