I saw several of those films on TCM. I had not seen any Marion Davies films before and the only picture that I had of her in my mind was from the film "Citizen Kane" and she is nothing like that. She was quite talented and could have done very well without Hearst.

I agree with you completely that Miss Davies was one talented woman that could have made it on her own. She overflowed with talent. One with a lesser talent would have cracked in the face of the badgering she was presented with. Hearst was obviously the man she loved and the fact that she stuck by him and even helped him out financially was proof of this love. Man what a woman!
I've been into old movies for a few years now and when I discover a new 'old' actor or actress I like then the chances are pretty good that there will be a whole string of great movies to watch with them in it. Movie stars these days might be admirable, but often times the films they do are hardly worth watching.
